Wheel Spinner — Random Picker Wheel

A picker wheel with weights, saved lists and share links

Runs in your browser · nothing is uploaded

Add a weight at the end of a line, like "Pizza*3" or "Pizza x3". No weight means 1; bigger weights come up more often. (1 to 1000, up to 100 items)

Saved lists

No saved lists yet. They are stored only in this browser.

The link carries your items and weights. Opening it shows the same wheel.

What it is

A picker wheel for choosing one option out of many: lunch spots, presentation order, forfeits, prizes, who goes first. Type one item per line and the wheel is drawn immediately; press Spin and it slows down over a few seconds before stopping on a slice. Entries can carry weights so some come up more often, winners can be removed so the next spin picks someone else, and the lists you reuse can be saved by name or sent as a link. Everything runs in your browser.

How to use

  1. Type your items in the box, one per line (commas also separate items). An example list is there to start.
  2. Add a weight to any item that should come up more often, for example Pizza*3.
  3. Choose a color palette: vivid, pastel or grayscale.
  4. Press Spin. When the wheel stops you see the result and the chance that item had.
  5. Switch on “Remove the winner from the next spin” to run through a list without repeats, handy for deciding an order. Restore the original list brings everything back afterwards. While the wheel spins, loading or deleting a saved list is disabled so the drawing and the result always match.
  6. Type a list name and press Save current list to reload it later, or use Create share link to send the same wheel to someone.

How it works

  • Item rules: line breaks and commas separate items and surrounding spaces are trimmed. You need between 2 and 100 items to spin.
  • Weights: whole numbers from 1 to 1000. A weight of 0, above 1000 or with a decimal point (like 1.5) marks the line as invalid; it is skipped and you are told which line.
  • Probability: an item’s chance is its weight divided by the total. The random value comes from crypto.getRandomValues without modulo bias, and Math.random is never used.
  • Angle math: the pointer stays at the top while the wheel turns clockwise. Once the winner is known a position inside its slice is picked at random, and five to seven full turns are added so that position ends up under the pointer.
  • Saving: a list is stored as a name plus the item text in local storage. Share links carry the weights too, in the same *number form.

Examples

Input Meaning Chances
Pizza / Sushi / Tacos no weights 33.3% each
Pizza*3 / Salad Pizza has weight 3 Pizza 75%, Salad 25%
Ana x2, Ben, Cho Ana counts double Ana 50%, Ben 25%, Cho 25%
Nothing*9 / Prize a rare-prize wheel Prize 10%

FAQ

Does the wheel always stop on the item it announces?

Yes. The winner is chosen first from the random number generator, then the wheel is turned to an angle inside that item's slice, at least 10% away from either edge. The slice under the pointer is the result, and the spinning motion is only for show.

How do weights work?

Add a number at the end of a line, such as "Pizza*3" or "Pizza x3". No number means 1, and weights must be whole numbers from 1 to 1000. With Pizza at 3 and Salad at 1, Pizza comes up three times out of four and takes that share of the wheel. The chance of the winning item is shown under the result.

What does the share link contain?

Pressing "Create share link" puts your items and weights into the items value after the # in the address. Whatever follows the # is never sent to a server, but anyone who receives the link can read it. Opening it shows the same wheel, but never any spin results. The address is not touched until you press the button. Commas split items, so avoid commas inside an item name.

Where do saved lists go?

Into your browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded. You can keep up to 20 named lists, and saving under an existing name replaces it. If the browser blocks storage you will see a notice, and the wheel keeps working.

Can I turn off sound and motion?

Sound is off by default; when you switch it on you only hear a short chime as the wheel stops. If your device is set to reduce motion, the wheel skips the spinning animation and shows the result right away.
