XML Sitemap Generator — URL List to XML
Turn a list of website URLs into a downloadable XML sitemap
Runs in your browser · nothing is uploaded
One http(s) URL per line, up to 10,000. All URLs must use the same protocol, host and port. Duplicates are removed.
Only enter the actual content modification date. Leave blank if dates differ between pages.
This generates XML from your list. It does not visit pages or check whether they can be indexed.
How to use
- Paste one page URL per line. All entries must use the same protocol, host and port.
- Optionally enter a genuine last-modified date that applies to every page in the list.
- Review the URL count and generated XML, then copy it or download sitemap.xml.
- Publish the file on your website and reference its URL in a search service’s sitemap submission feature or a Sitemap directive in robots.txt.
Generation rules
URLs must begin with http:// or https://. Credentials, whitespace and fragments are rejected. Duplicates are removed after normalization, so https://example.com:443/ and https://example.com/ produce one entry.
The output declares the sitemap XML namespace and places each URL in a loc element. XML metacharacters are escaped, including query-string ampersands. A supplied date is written as lastmod; leaving the date blank omits the element. Priority and change-frequency values are not guessed.
Example
A list containing https://example.com/, https://example.com/about/ and https://example.com/search?a=1&b=2 produces three URL entries. The query string in the last entry appears as a=1&b=2 inside XML. An XML reader resolves that escape back to the original URL.
Internationalized domains are converted to their ASCII representation, and Unicode paths are percent-encoded. This preserves the address in an XML-compatible form.
Limits and review
The tool accepts up to 10,000 input lines and 5,000,000 characters. Each normalized URL must be shorter than 2,048 characters. Split different protocols or hosts into separate lists.
These are this app’s limits: the Sitemap protocol allows up to 50,000 URLs per sitemap. This generator deliberately requires a single origin (protocol, host and port) and caps input at 10,000 lines to keep browser processing manageable.
Generating a sitemap does not make a page crawlable or guarantee indexing. Before publishing, verify that your list contains public, canonical pages with the expected responses. The generator does not inspect redirects, authentication, noindex directives or server behavior.
FAQ
Does the generator crawl my website?
No. It converts the URLs you supply into XML. It does not check HTTP responses, canonical tags, robots rules or indexing eligibility.
Should I use today's date for lastmod?
Only if the page content was actually modified today. The chosen date applies to every URL, so leave it blank if dates differ or are unknown.
Can I use international URLs and query strings?
Yes. Domains and paths are normalized with the browser URL parser, and XML special characters such as query ampersands are escaped. Malformed percent escapes are rejected.
