One JPG, PNG or WebP file up to 50 MB. You can also paste a copied image with Ctrl+V (⌘V on a Mac). Nothing leaves your browser.
Press Enter for a new line. With word wrap on, long lines break to fit the width.
Fonts are served from this site (SIL Open Font License). Characters a font lacks are drawn with your device font.
A share of the image width.
A share of the text size. 0 means no outline.
A share of the image width. Longer lines move to the next line.
You can also drag or tap the preview to place the text. Select the preview and use the arrow keys to move it 1% at a time (5% with Shift). With a screen reader, switch to focus mode first (Insert+Space in NVDA) so the arrow keys reach the preview.
Saved at the original resolution. PNG has no quality loss; JPG is written at quality 92. The name gets -text added.
The picture is redrawn, so the original EXIF data (camera, time, GPS location) is not carried over; the photo's rotation is applied. Nothing is uploaded.
What it is
A simple way to put words on a picture and keep it as an image: a price on a menu photo, a title on an event picture, a headline on a blog cover. Line breaks are kept as typed, long lines can wrap automatically, and the fonts include faces that render Korean as well as Latin text nicely.
How to use
- Drop an image on the dashed area or press Choose an image.
- Type your Text; press Enter for a new line.
- Pick the Font, Text size, Text colour, Outline colour and width, Shadow and Line alignment. Tidy long sentences with Word wrap and Line width.
- Place it with the nine Position buttons or drag it on the preview.
- Choose PNG or JPG and press Save image.
How it works
- Relative sizes: text size is 1-40% of the image width, the outline 0-30% of the text size and the line width 20-100% of the image width, so the full-size file matches the preview.
- Line breaks: lines break at spaces; Chinese, Japanese and long URLs without spaces break between characters, and emoji sequences such as families or flags are never split.
- Position: the nine positions keep a margin of 3% of the shorter edge; a dragged position keeps the text box inside the picture.
- Saving: PNG is lossless and JPG uses quality 92. The file name gets
-text, and the original EXIF data is not carried over.
Examples
| Use | Setting |
|---|---|
| Price on a menu photo | Heavy display, size 7%, white text, black outline 12%, bottom center |
| Blog cover headline | Sans, size 9%, translucent box on, center, line width 80% |
| Handwritten-style card | Handwriting, size 10%, outline 0%, shadow on |
For classic top-and-bottom captions try the meme generator; to put the same text on many photos use the watermark tool.
FAQ
The text is hard to read on my photo.
Raise the outline to 10-15% and use a contrasting outline colour, such as black around white letters; that reads on almost any background. On a busy picture, turn on the translucent box behind the text.
Is the saved image the same as the preview?
Yes. Text size, outline, line width and position are all relative to the picture size, and the preview and the file are drawn by the same code. The preview is only scaled down to fit your screen; the file is saved at the original resolution.
Which fonts are available?
Sans (Pretendard), a heavy display face, a serif, a handwriting and a brush font. All are under the SIL Open Font License, so the images you make can be used commercially. Characters a font lacks are drawn with your device font.
How do I place the text precisely?
Use the nine position buttons for a starting point, then drag or tap the preview. With the preview selected, the arrow keys move the text 1% at a time, or 5% with Shift.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Drawing the text and saving happen in your browser.
