MP4 · MOV · WebM · MKV · AVI videos (100 MB), MP3 · WAV · OGG · FLAC · AAC · M4A audio (50 MB). One file at a time.

Files stay in your browser. The first conversion downloads an engine of about 31 MB. Mobile devices may run out of memory; long videos can take a while.

GIF exports without sound at 12 frames per second. WAV and FLAC are lossless outputs and ignore the bitrate setting.

How to convert video or audio

  1. Select an MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV or AVI video, or MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, AAC or M4A audio file.
  2. Choose the output. Videos can become MP4, WebM or GIF, or any supported audio format to extract sound. Audio sources can become any of the six audio formats.
  3. Optionally enter start and end times in seconds. Choose maximum video resolution, quality, and audio bitrate.
  4. Start conversion and download the result. Use the preview button to display a player.

Conversion rules

MP4 uses H.264 video with AAC audio. WebM uses VP8 video with Vorbis audio. GIF has no sound and uses 12 frames per second with a 256-color palette. Resolution limits fit the source into a 16:9 bounding box while preserving its aspect ratio and avoiding enlargement. Even original-size output may adjust dimensions to even numbers for codec compatibility.

MP3 uses MP3 encoding, OGG uses Vorbis, and AAC and M4A use AAC. Lossy audio exports use 48 kHz stereo for compatibility. WAV uses 16-bit PCM, while FLAC uses lossless compression. WAV and FLAC ignore the bitrate setting. Conversion removes metadata and selects the first video and audio tracks. Subtitle tracks are excluded.

Examples

  • Convert trip.mov into a 720p MP4 to share.
  • Extract seconds 10 through 30 of an interview video as MP3.
  • Convert a WAV recording to MP3 at 192 kbps for a smaller file.

Progress is an estimate and can be inaccurate when trimming changes the duration. Short clips work best. Encrypted and DRM-protected media are unsupported.

FAQ

Are my files uploaded?

No. Conversion runs in browser memory. The first conversion downloads an engine of about 31 MB.

Why can a supported file fail?

A container such as MP4 can contain different codecs. Unsupported codecs, damaged files, missing audio during extraction, or insufficient memory can cause failure.

Can I convert large movie files?

Video files are limited to 100 MB and audio to 50 MB. Conversion needs extra memory, so smaller files can still fail on mobile. Jobs stop after three minutes.

Does converting MP3 to FLAC improve quality?

No. Information discarded by lossy compression cannot be restored. WAV and FLAC avoid further encoding loss but may produce larger files.
