What it is

A quick way to settle a toss-up: who goes first, which option wins, or what to eat. Press the button, the coin spins once, and heads or tails appears. You can also flip up to 1,000 coins in one go and watch how the totals really behave. Results and statistics only live in your browser while the page is open and are never sent anywhere.

How to use

  1. For a single flip, leave the number at 1 and press Flip the coin. With a keyboard, Tab to the button and press Enter or Space.
  2. To flip many coins, enter a number from 2 to 1,000 and press the same button.
  3. Read the result on the coin and in the sentence below it. After a multi-flip round the sequence is listed as well.
  4. Check the running totals for heads, tails, percentages and your longest streak.
  5. Press Reset statistics to start counting again from zero.

How it works

  • Randomness: each flip draws 0 or 1 from crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling, so heads and tails are exactly equally likely. Math.random is never used.
  • Independence: flips do not influence one another, so streaks do not make the opposite side “due”.
  • Percentages: shares are computed from the total number of flips and rounded to one decimal place. With few flips it is normal to land far from 50/50.
  • Streaks: the longest and the current run of the same side are tracked; on a tie the earlier longest run is kept.
  • Accessibility: the result sentence sits in a polite live region for screen readers, and the spin animation is skipped when you prefer reduced motion.

Examples

Flips A possible result
1 Heads
5 H, H, T, H, T gives 3 heads, 2 tails and a longest streak of 2 heads
1,000 something like 497 heads and 503 tails, hovering near half

FAQ

Is it really 50/50?

Yes. Each flip takes an unbiased 0 or 1 from your browser's cryptographic generator (crypto.getRandomValues). Flips are independent, so after five heads in a row the next flip is still heads or tails with equal chance.

What do I see when I flip many coins at once?

Enter a number from 2 to 1,000 and you get this round's heads and tails counts plus the exact sequence. The running totals below add up every flip since you opened the page or last reset.

How are streaks counted?

The tool counts how many times in a row the same side came up and shows both your longest streak and the one currently running. Streaks continue across rounds, and Reset statistics sets everything back to zero.

Can I turn off the animation?

If your system or browser asks for reduced motion (prefers-reduced-motion), the coin does not spin and the result simply changes. Results are also announced to screen readers.
