Create ZIP File Online — Zip Files and Folders
Compress files and folders into a ZIP archive right in the browser
Runs in your browser · nothing is uploaded
Drop files or folders to zip here
Add many files and folders at once (up to 10,000 files, 1 GB in total). Files never leave your browser.

No files added yet.
Empty uses the folder name (when there is one folder) or "archive". .zip is added for you.
Store only bundles files without compressing (fastest). Maximum is a little smaller but slower.
What it does
Bundling files into a single ZIP makes them easier to attach to an email or upload to a form that accepts one file. This tool builds the ZIP right in your browser: pick files or a whole folder and download the archive. Nothing to install, which helps on locked-down work computers. Folders keep their subfolders, so the recipient sees the same structure after unzipping.
How to use
- Press Choose files or Choose folder, or drag files and folders onto the box. You can add more in several rounds.
- Remove anything you do not want with Remove.
- Name the ZIP and pick a compression level (Store only, Fast, Normal, Maximum).
- Press Create ZIP, watch the progress, then Download ZIP. Stop cancels a long job.
How it works
- Format: a standard ZIP following PKWARE’s APPNOTE, compressed with Deflate; Store only adds files without compression.
- Already compressed files: JPG, PNG, MP4, ZIP, PDF and similar formats are stored as they are by default, which saves time for almost no size cost. You can turn this off.
- Names:
..segments, empty parts and characters Windows forbids (< > : " | ? *) are cleaned; duplicates in a folder get(1)before the extension. - System files:
.DS_Store,__MACOSX,Thumbs.dbanddesktop.iniare left out by default. - Dates: each file’s modification time is stored (dates before 1980 become 1980, the earliest a ZIP can hold).
- Performance: compression runs in a Web Worker with fflate (MIT), so the page stays responsive.

To unpack a ZIP you received, use the archive extractor; to rename files in bulk before zipping, use the bulk file renamer.
FAQ
Are my files uploaded?
No. The ZIP is built inside this page by your browser. The files you pick are never sent to a server, and the finished ZIP is saved only on your device.
Will names with accents, Korean or emoji survive?
Yes. Names are stored as UTF-8 with the ZIP UTF-8 flag (general purpose bit 11), which Windows Explorer, macOS Archive Utility and 7-Zip all honour.
How large can the ZIP be?
Up to 10,000 files and 1 GB in total per archive. The ZIP is assembled in memory, so on a phone it is safer to split big jobs. ZIP64 archives over 4 GB are not created.
Which compression level should I pick?
Normal suits most cases. If you are zipping photos, videos or PDFs, Store only is much faster and the size barely changes. Maximum squeezes text and documents a few percent more but takes longer.
Can I add a password?
Not at the moment; the tool creates unencrypted ZIP files.
