What it does
It arranges several pages small on one sheet of paper. Use it to hand out slides six to a page, save paper by printing two pages per sheet, or look over a whole document at a glance. The layout preview numbers the cells so you can see the order pages will take. The result is a new PDF, and everything runs in your browser.
How to use
- Drop one PDF on the dashed area or press Choose PDF.
- Pick Pages per sheet: 2, 4, 6 or 9.
- Pick the Paper (A4, A3, Letter, Legal) and Orientation (auto, portrait, landscape).
- Pick the Page order: across then down (Z) goes left to right and then to the next row; down then across (N) goes top to bottom and then to the next column.
- Set the outer margin and the gap between pages in millimetres, and choose whether to draw borders.
- Press Create N-up PDF and download the result.
How it works
- Grids: 2 pages are 1×2 (stacked) on portrait paper and 2×1 (side by side) on landscape; 4 are 2×2; 6 are 2×3 portrait or 3×2 landscape; 9 are 3×3.
- Paper sizes: A4 210×297 mm, A3 297×420 mm, Letter 8.5×11 in, Legal 8.5×14 in.
- Placement: each page’s visible area (crop box) is fitted into its cell with its proportions kept, and centred. Rotated pages appear as shown on screen.
- Margins and gaps: 0 to 50 mm each. If a cell side would drop below half an inch (about 12.7 mm), the layout is refused with a message.
- Quality: pages are carried over as vector content, so text can be selected and searched and stays sharp when zoomed. Annotations such as links and form fields, and bookmarks, are not carried over.
- Limits: files up to 100 MB. PDFs that need a password to open, or that carry editing restrictions, cannot be opened.
- Libraries: pdf-lib (MIT) writes the file and PDF.js (Apache-2.0) draws the preview.

FAQ
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The layout is built in your browser only and the file is never uploaded.
How is this different from my printer's N-up setting?
You get a PDF, so the layout prints the same on any printer and can be shared as a handout. Pages are placed as vector content, not pictures, so text stays sharp when zoomed and can still be selected.
How is the orientation chosen?
With Auto, the shape of the first page decides, and the orientation where each page comes out larger wins. Portrait pages at 2 or 6 per sheet give landscape sheets; at 4 or 9 they stay portrait. You can also pick portrait or landscape yourself.
What if pages have different sizes?
Each page is scaled as large as it fits in its cell without changing its proportions, and centred. Rotated pages appear the way they are shown on screen. Pages of a different shape leave some space inside their cell.
What about blank pages?
A page with no content leaves its cell empty, with only the border if borders are on. Unused cells on the last sheet stay empty too.
