Combine matching numbers on a 4×4 board to reach 2048. Play directly in your browser without signing up or installing anything. Your game inputs are not sent to a server.
How to play
- Press Start game to place two tiles.
- Click the board and use arrow keys or WASD. On touchscreens, swipe the board or use the direction buttons.
- Matching tiles merge into one tile and add that value to your score.
- Use Undo move to go back through up to 50 effective moves.
Rules and example
A new tile appears only after a move changes the board: 2 with 90% probability, or 4 with 10%. Sliding 2 · 2 · 2 · 2 left creates 4 · 4 · empty · empty, adds 8 points, and then places one new tile.
Try keeping your largest tile near a corner and leaving room to maneuver. A full board is still playable if two equal tiles share an edge.
FAQ
Can a tile merge twice in one move?
No. Each tile merges at most once per move. Sliding 2, 2, 4 left creates 4, 4, not 8.
Is my game saved after a refresh?
No. The game and undo history stay in this page's memory. Refreshing or closing the page resets them.
Does the game stop at 2048?
You can keep playing after reaching 2048. The game ends when there are no empty spaces and no adjacent matching tiles.
