Fill connected squares to match the numbers.

Green clues mean your current filled groups match that line. They do not verify individual squares against the answer.

Left clues describe rows; top clues describe columns. 2 1 means two filled squares, at least one gap, then one filled square, in that order.

In a five-square line, 5 fills the whole line. 2 2 must be ■■×■■. A 0 means the entire line is empty.

Choose Fill or Mark X, then select a square. Repeat the same mark to erase it. Right-click always marks X.

Keyboard: arrows to move · Space/Enter for the selected mark · X to mark an empty square · Undo to recover a move.

Fill every picture square correctly to finish. You do not have to mark every empty square with X. There is no time limit.

About nonograms

A nonogram is a picture logic puzzle. Each number tells you how many consecutive squares belong to a filled group. Compare the clues across rows and down columns to uncover a small pixel picture. These six curated puzzles each have exactly one solution.

How to play

  1. Choose a puzzle from the collection. The 5×5 boards offer a quick introduction; 10×10 boards reveal larger pictures.
  2. Select Fill, then click or tap a square to color it in.
  3. Select Mark X to note squares you believe are empty. Applying the same mark again erases it.
  4. Use matched clue lines to guide your next deductions. Undo restores a previous move.
  5. Fill all picture squares correctly to complete the puzzle.

For keyboard play, Tab into the board and move with the arrow keys. Space or Enter applies the selected marking mode. X directly toggles an empty-square mark. Mouse users can also right-click to mark X.

Rules and completion

  • 3 describes a single group of three adjacent filled squares. The rest of that line is empty.
  • 2 1 describes a group of two, followed by a group of one, with at least one empty square between them.
  • 0 describes an entirely empty line.
  • Green clues and the progress count indicate lines that match their clues. They are not a square-by-square answer checker.
  • Every required square must be filled, and every other square must remain unfilled. Crosses are optional.
  • There is no timer, move limit or penalty for mistakes. Progress does not persist after a refresh.

A useful first deduction

In a five-square line, 2 2 can only fit as ■■×■■: the two groups and their required gap occupy all five spaces. For a clue of 3, the middle square is filled regardless of where the group starts. Mark such certain squares first, then look at the crossing clues for your next move.

FAQ

How do I read nonogram clues?

Numbers to the left describe rows; numbers above describe columns. Each number is the length of a consecutive filled group. Keep the groups in the given order and leave at least one empty square between them. A zero means the whole line is empty.

Does each puzzle have only one solution?

Yes. All six included 5×5 and 10×10 puzzles have been checked for a unique solution using their row and column clues together. Begin with the smaller puzzles to learn the rules.

Do green clues confirm that my squares are correct?

Green means the current groups of filled squares match that line's clue numbers. It does not compare individual squares with the hidden picture. You must satisfy all rows and columns together to finish.

How do I mark empty squares on my phone?

Select Mark X above the board, then tap a square. Repeat the same mark to erase it. With a mouse, right-click to mark X regardless of the selected mode.

Do I have to mark every empty square with X?

No. Fill every picture square correctly and leave all other squares unfilled to finish. Crosses are optional notes to help you reason. Undo restores the previous mark if you make a mistake.

Is my progress saved or uploaded?

The puzzle runs in your browser and the board is not sent to a server. Progress is not saved when you refresh or leave the page. Changing puzzles or choosing Start over also clears the current board.
